Title: White Wolf
Post by: Darkmage on March 16, 2011, 01:11:28 AM
I am a fan of the White Wolf d10 series. More the Old World of Darkness than the New.  I like all of the systems I have played in it, Hunter, Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage.

I guess the Storyteller just wipes out all of your characters?  hehe.

I saw White Wolf had two smaller PDFs about using WOD for Sci-Fi and Fantasy.  I had a lot of fun running a WOD Fantasy game awhile back with some houserules.

I really like the WoD system over-all and have had some great experiences with it.  I love D6 as well actually (being an old school Star Wars D6er).  I actually just ran a MiniSix Game last weekend for a friend of mine.  Dice pools are fun; and very intuitive i find...

We just started running a Star Wars D6 game in my Monday group, and it's been fun so far.

Yes, I agree on the intuitive nature of a number of D10s for this stat, plus a number of D10s for this skill, and roll that many dice.  OWOD/WOD are still in my top 5 games.  (http:///smile.gif)

Awsome!  Keep me updated on the D6 Game!  I'm heading up to a friends for a few days in April for a D6 Star Wars marathon; that promises to be fun.  Do you have much experience witht he system?  I have a few questions...

This will be my first experience with the D6 system, but I like it so far.  It feels like counting up D&D Fireball damage for most rolls.  (http:///smile.gif)

More the Old World of Darkness than the New.

You probably already know it, but WW is releasing a 20th year edition of vampire the masquerade (http:///wink.gif)As for me, I kinda like the setting (some parts of it, at least), but really dislike the system.

WW have always approached their game as Storytelling first & dice rolling second.  There are definately aspects of the game where mechanics are all-but-thrown together......but, I had the luxury of having an amazing GM for my WW experiences, so it was easy to look past this.  When I re-read it with the intention of running the game; these areas became much more glaring.

I really like the way dice pools are formed.  In some ways the NWOD cleaned up some things, but it doesn't feel as intuitive as the OWOD.  I liked the old Stats much better, and I liked having more skills in the game.

Agreed.  I think the differentiation was good & also agree about it being more intuitive. D6 has an alternate resolution system that counts 1 as 0, 2-5 as 1 and 6 as 2 success....in case you find the straight D6 too "heavy"

I really don't like World of Darkness or Exalted, but the Storyteller system itself isn't that bad. I loved Street Fighter.

I love the world of farkness system.

I run a dark ages campaign atm ; which is a chronicle of tje ages 1100 thru to 1473 currently and then to the convention of thorns.
I love the idea of players getting to be powerful, fighting against the oppressive elders and then putting them in situations where they become those self same oppressive elders!

Btw I play old world of darkness.. (http:///smile.gif)Jason

Only played vampire.

A player though wanted a background of resources and wanted a father who he hated. His retainer was a servant.

When he returned to the domain as a vampire
Only to discover his father was a renegade werewolf who held his pack in the castle by force. He killed him but his servant and the rest of the pack swore revenge. That was 50 years ago and the stories passed down are becoming legend. One day he will discover his legend coming back to haunt him!

I think it is cool when backgrounds find their way into the game, and when actions have long reaching consequences that sometimes take months or years to bring to full fruition.

We played with vamps and werewolves working together towards a common goal.

We had a cult ran by a vamp who used humans to erradicate every non human and used some black spiral dancers for a wild card in the equation.

The Cleansing Flame will rid the world of all impure "humanity!"  All it takes is 5 easy payments of $99, and obedience to the Hominus Masterus Deus!

Yeah, an old Vamp with a god complex was using humans against his rivals, with the aid of a few Black Spiral Dancers for good measure.  It all fell apart though, thanks to the little group of Garou and low ranking Camarilla Vamps.

After the unified threat was destroyed however, they killed each other.  (http:///smile.gif)
