Is there a function on these boards for notifying the poster by email if a response to a wathced thread comes along?

Short Answer is yes....

See attached image. The red circle shows you where to find the "Notify" link for an individual thread.

When looking at the index (the list of threads) in a single forum/sub-forum, you will find a similar "Notify" button for that entire forum/sub-forum.

Doh! As admin, I get to see everything....

For some reason (and I have no idea why), it was turned off. It is back on now... you should be able to see it....
