I had thought of doing something like this way, way back when I worked for Mjolnir, but we never got the chance to move forward with the idea...
Anyways, here is a sample -- it is a work in progress, and I am still trying to figure out how to make the popups stay for a little bit (and allow for mousing over and clicking on links...)
but anyways, take a look at this and let me know what you think...

I think it's a good way to go. It could be made into a kind of index for Tyrlon with a link to each appropriate section of the book.
-
And I could also hook into the city map in a similar manner, with information about each building...

Here are some links to how I would like it to end up working like -- well, something similar to this (I may eventually end up breaking down and just buying the license instead of trying to do it on my own...)

Very nice idea, but it seems to be a lot of work. The final result should be awesome !

Yup, which is one of the reasons that I am considering getting that license from milonic and using their menu system. I might even use it without the license for a while (in which case it adds a link to the bottom of the page)....
Here is a sample of what I could do with it -- http://www.firehawkgames.biz/Wodfeld/index.htm

Definitely a promising way to go. I am eagerly waiting for further developments. (http:///bigeyes.gif)

hm..... I wonder if it might be possible to hook it into a wiki perhaps, and then I start off filling things in (i.e. the core Tyrlon book), and then let others make contributions (with perhaps the caveat that anything posted becomes the property of FHG to use as it sees fit, including in later publications, and another that says that while folks are free to post things, if FHG disagrees, then FHG is free to delete and/or edit as it feels is required)....
-
You will have to retain final authority on what is published and what is not if you want to have a coherent world IMO.
-
That is part of what I was thinking...
Back when working for Mjolnir, we had set up a Cyradon wiki, with the official bits in non-editable chunks and the the rest open to anybody to edit. This allowed us to transfer what we wanted from fan-created to official...
I'll have to see if I can remember how I did that....
