 Increasing the SP cost or casting time basically means that the character has the same base CHANCE of casting the spell as if he/she was wearing no armor- it just takes more energy and time to do so. That's not nearly as much fun (or tense) for the caster!

The question is -- When Joe makes his Magecraft roll, does it tell him that the spell costs 4 SP (its normal cost), or 6 SP since that is what Fred spent?

Personally, I would say 4 SP, since it seems wrong to me to force a Counterspeller to also pay for the target's impedance. It would also mean that something that makes a spell harder to cast also makes it harder to dispell (counter-intuitive to me).

Currently, I am leaning more towards not allowing them to be saved, but allowing them to be spent on things across 2 levels (i.e. pay some DP for something in one level, then pay the rest the following level - of course, not gaining access to whatever it is until the full cost has been paid).

how about "Neutral" Spells (i.e. as in they are neutral in relationship to the other schools of magic)?



I don't like it.
The name "Neutral" carries too much "alignment" baggage with it.
I would chose a different name... like "Common" or "Mundane"...

IMHO and coming from someone who rarely played games with corruption/insanity systems, if there is a way to accumulate those points to negative effect, there should be a way to get relief/remove the points.

For a feline race (Lions always seemed like the best option in my opinion) I would use the Elves as a baseline and tweak it from there.



I dunno...
I would use Humans as baseline. Bonuses to dex, str, and con.... minuses to .... what?
Tim (Rasyr), are you gonna do the Bazaar and EA races for Novus, or do you want players/playtesters to do it? That's something I would be interested in...
