A ridiculously late reply, but thanks from this Calgarian

Other Game Systems / Star Wars D6

The D6 Star Wars system was always one of my favorite systems to run and play in.  It's quick to pick up and easy to learn.  I did find that Jedi's and other force using characters a bit unbalanced, they are initially fairly useless then hit a certain point and become almost unbeatable by non force users.

Downloaded them but haven't read them yet.  Just deciding if I want to print out hard copies or not. Might print out Character Law, but Spell Law is a bit too big, and most of it is just Spell Lists.

More complicated is definitely not what is needed.  But, could mean some room for doing some Optional Rules articles for the Guild Companion

I think one of the biggest factors in whether the new ICE will be successful or not will be in support material.  If they don't release interesting campaign settings and adventures to support them, then I think you are right, there will be an initial set of sales from people like me who will buy the core books to see what the system is like, but if no support follows, that will quickly die off and things will go nowhere.

And they won't be able to do it. Their track record of releases to date SHOWS that they won't be able to do it.

I think you are correct.  At a minimum I think they would need to come out with something like the Guild Adventurer at least quarterly and I just don't think they have the manpower to do it.  I hope for the Fan's sake that the new revision is decent, and I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I'm not getting my expectations up too high.

General Discussion / What are you currently reading?

Sadly the next set of books I'll be reading is the Twilight books.  I promised some of the women/girls in my life that I would and they promised that the books were better than the movies.  I still want a "Team Blade" Tee-shirt though.

I've always enjoyed Jim Butcher's Dresden Files books, so I've decided to give his Codex Alera series a try.  Just finished Book 3 in the series.  It's pretty decent Fantasy material, not as much humor as the Dresden books, and a few interesting ideas for a magic system based on "Furies" which are basically elementals that people bound with which can give them different types of powers.  For example, Water gives you healing abilities and the ability to change your appearance.  Wind allows you to fly and to see great distances (by adjusting air density to create a lens).

Fairly light reading, but enjoyable.
