Well, Speed actually functions in that manner, for the grosser agility, as well as for reaction speed, etc..

Perhaps, I should make sure that the stat descriptions and the stats for the skills better reflect this

Good Catch...

Yes, I'd found out about Speed soon after I'd posted this. It definitely goes some way to resolving the (my) issue.

Isn't there a new version of Novus due out soon?

If so, I think I'll just wait for that to come out, digest it all, and then wait for the Harn doc. to come out. Meanwhile I'll be using Novus to run Harn. Hand wave what needs hand waving.

naw, gonna say "slowly" as I am only one person, and am trying to get version 0.7 of the Open Beta done (then I will be back to do more on this).

I just found the HARP/Harn pdf you did.

We're in good hands

How progresses the progressing?

You're going to say 'it progresses' aren't you?

Imploding Dice: When the result on a die is a 1, then it implodes. This means that you get to sum the two dice, and then reroll the one that had the 1 on it, and subtract that from your total. You would continue to do this as long as you continued to roll ones on the imploding die. Once a die has imploded, it cannot explode during the reroll process

I can't see that making any appreciable difference to a task roll. You'd have to roll 1s a goodly few times, and at a 10% chance, that's never going to happen as frequently as needs be. I'm going with a re-roll on the 1s as usual, but then a re-roll only on natural 10s. I've used it in my own homebrew games and it works fine.

Novus RPG / All under one cover
« on: December 31, 2011, 09:03:29 PM »
I like the idea of having all the rules I need under one cover. I also like the idea of the Libram Novus, wherein optional rules are presented - as long as those rules shouldn't already be in the main core rulebook.

What I mean is, if this is a fantasy roleplaying game, and the main rule book has Humans, Elves, Dwarves, but Elves in another supplement, this may be a bit awkward. It's not a cost/price thing, just a 'keep it tidy and in order' thing. Spells in particular could get out of hand very quickly.

Here's a good idea (even if I say so myself), you could present these optional Libram Novus rules in a style similar to Harnmaster. This way you can just print out and slot the loose leafed pages in your ever growing folder as and when you want. Naming convention for pages wouldn't be a 1, 2, 3 and so on, it would be sectioned. Like, Character 1, Character 2...Character 23. Then perhaps, Races 1, Races 2 etc.

Looking forward to this either way.
