I figured that it might be a good idea to recount some of the projects that I am working on currently. To give folks a slightly better idea of what is happening behind the scenes.
Novus 2e
Novus 2e is currently in Public Beta. This means that I am waiting on feedback from those who get it from
DriveThru RPG. Once I feel that I have waited long enough, that is when I start on the final version (the beta will have a cover added and become the
Bare Bones version, and it will go from
Pay What you Want to a flat $5.
I will then start adding artwork, and making the Standard and Deluxe versions (the Deluxe version will have an index (always a pain to create).
The Beta Version currently contains the following:
- 6 races (one Kindred template)
- 8 Cultures
- 20 Backgrounds
- 12 Taining Paths (in 4 groups -- Casters, Fighters, Adepts (skill-based), and Hybrids (contains elements of the other 3 groups))
- 21 skills (actually more with sub-skills and specialties)
- 37 Talents
- Combat Moves & Styles
- 70 Spells (customizable -- does not count the 18 Cantrips also included)
- 31 Monsters
|
Now, this list is not all that is prepared for Novus 2e. The full version that my Alpha Playtesters have includes:
- 12 Races (24 Kindred templates)
- 14 Cultures
- 59 Backgrounds
- 43 Training Paths (in 4 groups -- Casters, Fighters, Adepts (skill-based), and Hybrids (contains elements of the other 3 groups))
- 21 skills (actually more with sub-skills and specialties)
- 84 Talents
- 205 Spells (customizable -- does not count the 39Cantrips also included)
- 57 monsters (at the moment)
|
So, there is plenty of material for supplements! My list of monsters is only about half complete. I need to get a few more added for my Alpha Playtesters.
Novus 2e Quickstart
I am also working on a quickstart Adventure. It will be a short adventure that includes pre-generated characters that can be used. It is going to be designed to showcase some of the features of Novus. The idea is for this to be a free product, that takes almost no time (on the part of the players) to get into to introduce them to the system.
Anwyn
Anwyn will be the default setting for Novus 2e. In fact, all of the races in the currently available Public Beta can be found in Anwyn.
Anwyn is a land of myth and legend. And quite often those myths and legends are wrong. Yes, they contain a grain of truth, often mangled through retellings over time, or mis-translations.
It is an island that is sundered from reality, floating through the dimensions, connected to many but anchored by none. Half the island is civiliized (or mostly so), and the other half is wilderness or worse. You have the following areas:
- Ilthach, the Haunted Steppes - filled with tombs and graveyards that face into and out of existance, freeing many undead. And along its southern border is the Demon's Run, a wild river into which often spell a hoard of minor demons and devils that empties into the Brackenmire Swamps; a place where even the demons and devils seek to escape from.
- Tuist Rhion, The Glittering Wastes - littered with crystals of an unknown origin and sometimes dangerous abilities. Most avoid this region if possible.
- Esker Archia - Sometimes known as the Esker Highlands or the Henge Plains. Dotted with many stone arches and trithilons that often hold portals from other places and even other times. You never know what you may find, from dinosaurs, to men in unusual clothing carrying metalic rods, held like a crossbow, that shoot some form of energy akin to both fire and lightning. Very few who end up coming through the portals survive long enough to figure out where they are.
- Tir Hoige, The Land of Youth - Here live the Elves, both the High Elves (Sylvari) and the Wood Elves (Verdyri).
- Tir Tuath, The Land of the People - This is the land of the Humans and in more recent years also of the Gnomes (Ethori). There are two main groups of Humans. The first is the more populas group and their main city is Hyb Rasil. The second main group is settled along the sourthern penninsula, south of the Bay of Sorrows, in the city of Karwahn. There are other smaller groups of HUmans to be found in these lands as well.
- Tir Trioch, Land of Dwarves - The dwarves occupy the lands and mountains north of the Wraithwood, home of the Aeshi (also known as the Shadowlings,Dwelfs, and sometimes as Treewraiths). The Aeshi allow none to enter the Wraithwood without permission, but they often visit the island town of Mirrhyc, one of the way stops between Tir Tuath and Kragorn, as the dwarven kingdom is called.
Novus 2e Psionics
I haven't got a name for this yet. Basically, there are Minor and Major Disciplines. Those Training Paths that follow the ways of the mind can learn these disciplines in what are called Branches (groups of related disciplines).
Psionic characters are able to maintain up to 7 Disciplines (that are non-instantaneous) at a time, but the more that they have active, the more concentration it takes (meaning negative modifiers to other actions).
Fantasy Express
In the very early stages of development, this will be a d6 based system; kinda lite, but also kinda gritty.
It has 8 attributes (5 stats, 3 secondary stats), and 9 skills. The character sheet takes up half of a normal sheet of paper. Will provide more information when I have it....
