Potion Mixability
« on: March 06, 2012, 03:27:04 PM »
So, for some reason my brain decided to start thinking about the old Potion Miscability table from the original AD&D DMG, and I got to thinking about perhaps something like that would be cool for Novus...

Something along the lines of

Potion Mixability
RollResults
2Explosion: If taken internally, 4d10 hits to all within 5' radius as the imbiber explodes. If mixed externally, 4d10 hits to all within 10' radius, no Saves.
3Lethal: imbiber dead, external results in poisonous cloud covering 10' radius
4Failure: Both potions destroyed.
5Partial Failure: One potion destroyed, one works normally
6-7Partial Failure: Both potions work, but at 1/2 normal effectiveness and/or duration.
8-17Mixable: Both potions work normally so long as their effects are not contradictory.
18-19Compatible: One potion works at 150% of normal effect and/or duration, the other works normally.
20Discovery: Only one potion works, but its effects become permanent on the character.

Thoughts? Comments?

I would most likely NOT put the table into Novus, not at this late stage, but I could still put a note that mixing potions is a bad idea and can result in unexpected, potentially lethal consequences...
