New spells for v0.7 ?

It seems that you are after some new spells to fill in some pages. I have made a quick conversions of spells from Dragon Age: Origins ? Would it be all right to post them here or is there any kind of copyright problem for that ?

I'd rather not try and do conversions straight from another system. That may not be proper, so I'd rather not chance it.

However, if you care to list the "concepts behind the spells" and which School you think a given concept might best apply to, then we could take the official spell creation rules and see about making new spells from scratch, based upon those concepts/ideas.

I have put in attachment some potential new spells. Though "DAO-inspired", I think they all are generic enough to be inserted in any FRP game.

I like some of those ideas, but not I agree with the schools you were putting them in.

You of all peomple are very welcome to use and modify those proposition. The rule of thumb I used is elemental spells in the Natural magic and nasty spell in black magic. I am sure there are plenty of room for improving those spells. I will think about them more this evening.

Well, we definitely need to add a Fireball type of spell to those in the core rules.

Both the Nature Magic and the Wizardry Schoools seem appropriate for it. As Nature Magic has the Eldritch Fire spell and Wizardry has the Elemental Bolt spell which allows the caster to throw Fire, Ice, or Electricity (deciding at the time of casting)

The thing to do is to look at the descriptions of the Schools and see what spells are already there... For example, that "Force Wave" spell -- something along those lines would likely be more of the High Magic School.

But that first spell, the one talking about the ebb and flow of magic, that isn't really suited to Novus because of the way magic is defined. That one, however, might be more appropriate to a specific setting (such as ICE's Shadow World, where magic does ebb and flow).

Hi Rasyr,
I have made some modifications to the previous file.
1. Mana Tamper is now mana magnet. The description has been modified to be more generic, the casting time has been changed to 1 minute to make it attractive for junior spell casters.
2. Elemental Ball: this one fits better in the Wizardry than in Natural Magic I think.
3. I have removed Force Wave as the sorcerer has already a similar spell (Force Bolt)
4. Two spells were added: Transposition and Dimensional Ball.
For every spell, I have added the spell base.
