Imploding Dice: When the result on a die is a 1, then it implodes. This means that you get to sum the two dice, and then reroll the one that had the 1 on it, and subtract that from your total. You would continue to do this as long as you continued to roll ones on the imploding die. Once a die has imploded, it cannot explode during the reroll process

I can't see that making any appreciable difference to a task roll. You'd have to roll 1s a goodly few times, and at a 10% chance, that's never going to happen as frequently as needs be. I'm going with a re-roll on the 1s as usual, but then a re-roll only on natural 10s. I've used it in my own homebrew games and it works fine.

The major difference in what the rules say and what you plan on doing will be an overall increase in the number of Snag Points earned when a roll is fumbled. Making Imploding rolls only implode on a 1 was done deliberately to keep the number of Snag Points low as possible without allowing things to go too wild in the negative direction.

Just be aware of the impact that your change might have on the rules, and it is also always a good idea to let players know about any changes you do make to the rules.

And welcome to the forums!!

Long time gamer of almost 30 years, recently discovered Novus whilst looking for a rpg to run my Harn world game.

I think that you will be happy to hear that I am in discussions with the fine folks from Columbia Games in an attempt to get permission to create a Novus/Harn document, that can be used to make it easier to play Novus in the Harn setting. Don't expect anything soon. Even if they approve it, we are looking at the end of the summer at the earliest for such a document.
