Creature and abnormal level
« on: August 26, 2011, 04:48:53 AM »
Will there be some kind of guideline in an upcoming version that determine or codify when some creature are "abnormally" high in level or we just use our simple judgment ?

The reason I'm asking (and some background) is I remember that we had a in the past some cool Orc general that was high in level and prestige and every time we (our party) saw that Orc we always tried our best to put him down but (even without the GM doing) he always had luck on his side. And I'm talking about the same thing has Shelob in lord of the rings or a really old monster like that.

PS: sorry about the long background lol

Basically, Monsters are all built as Rogues. They received 1 rank each in 2 combat skills (one melee, one ranged), and in the basic skills listed.

So, raising or lowering their given level should not be an issue at all.

Note: some monsters have tough skin or hide that gives them AR, but sentient monsters like Orcs and Kobolds all wear armor just like the PC races.

Comforting piece of news.
I am currently converting many monsters from Dragon Age into Novus. I was using combat training 1 for most monsters along with 1 rank per level and 2 ranks for "culture" for most monsters. For ultra-aggressive monsters (eg. Demons of Rage) I have used combat training 2 with 2 ranks per level.

I also gave monsters 2 ranks in both combat skill as their "background"
