Possibilities for the next issue of Libram Novus?

I would like to hear suggestions on topics that you would like to see covered in the next few issues of Libram Novus.

Some possibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Training Paths
  • Alchemy rules
  • new races
  • new monsters
  • guns (flintlock level)

Come on folks! Make suggestions!![/list]

Interesting people and places from your default setting to use as adventure seeds.

Have to get the setting a little further developed for that...

New to the game but some guidelines on monster creation (perhaps a breakdown of the design principles used to create the creatures in the NOVUS core book) would be useful. Would it be a possible for a HARP Monsters and Treasures conversion guide, or is that not possible due to licensing or copyright issues?

Monster creation is one of the things on the to-do list most definitely.

Short answer is no, anything such as that would NOT be possible...  Long answer involves how the people currently in charge over there seem to have an active dislike for me (go read my personal website -- http://www.wizlair.net -- if you want more information on that, as it is not a discussion I want to get involved with on these forums).

I'm still digesting the core rules but see a few areas which could be further expanded. In particular there are 3 general skills where specializations can be developed in Libram Novus articles:

Crafting
Lore
Performing Arts

Of course each GM can decide the characters range and scope of each specialization for their campaign but providing some examples would be cool; for example, perhaps Crafting(Blacksmithing) would provide guidelines as to what a character can craft, time to craft, target numbers, crafting exceptional weapons or armor, etc.  If developed sufficiently, perhaps repair rules for armor and weapons which can be tied into new optional weapon and armor breakage rules.

I already plan on introducing levels of craftsmanship (i.e. Apprentice, Journeyman, Tradesman, Master, GrandMaster) based on the number of ranks the character has. One thing I am not wanting to do is to create a situation where there are tons of details to wade through.

I have already seen first hand that the more details you put into something, the harder it becomes to deal with thinking outside the box, as it were. I hope that makes sense...

the main principle for Novus is "Keep it as simple as possible"

I think/hope that the craftsmanship rules will give some basic guidelines that allow for adjusting to many different situations.

What about some examples of historical combat styles (fencing, kenjutsu, thai boxing...) ?

Guidelines on making your own races, or guidelines for making more powerful races.  Perhaps using CPs?

I want to try and keep adventures separate from the Libram Novus PDFs...
