Arrgh!! Hey, is the tendril around the arm holding the baton or around Ewyn's free hand? This will determine which attack Ewyn uses next round. His DEF for the round will be 20 (no FIghting Defensively)

Warmup roll






If tendril is around arm holding baton -- cast Empty Hand again, at the tendril holding me






If tendril is around free arm, then strike at tendril (just past where it wraps around arm -- i.e. so a miss will not strike myself) using Baton (Hand Strike/Weapon Kata, AB 8, Base Damage

The tendril wrapped around the arm with the baton, so you cast Empty Hand.  Is that from the core rules or one of the Libram Novus PDFs?

Libram Novus #4 -- basically is similar to the Astral Bolt (4 points of Base Damage (no stat mod to Base Damage) + 1 point for each point over foe's DEF), but it can also be cast in a Cone form (which I did not do - hehe). Since the CTN is only 16, that means that Ewyn would have earned a Casting Boon Point as well, which he would use to "Double Numerical Effect" (which would mean 8 points Base Damage, instead of 4 -- Scaled Damage would remain as per normal).

Alright, adding in the modifier that the dice roller didn't include it looks like you will take 3 scaled damage, 5 base damage, and then half of the cold / evil damage from the tendril that you saved for which is 10 damage for a total Hit Point loss of 18 damage.  The Tendril is currently still gripping your arm.

So Ewyn is at 26/44 Hit Points.
