Damage/ hit location question
« on: September 21, 2012, 03:32:11 PM »
Hi,
First post regarding rules rather than maps, for a change...

I'm new to Novus (in terms of ruleset) and I can't remove this idea of Hit Location. I really like what you did with Harp/ Martial Law and I was wondering whether there could be a Libram Novus about this topic.
It's certainly not your n°1 top priority but are you considering making an alternative damage system that will imply Hit Location and various effects?
If not, would you mind giving some possible ideas to build our own house rules?

Novus provides tons of combat possibilities but I'm not fond of just hit points and really like the stunned/ loss of arm use/ gouged eye/ skill penalties and so forth
Do you think such a system can fit with "Novus' essence" ?

Hmmm... Interesting idea. And it is one that I will definitely consider. I am still in the middle of moving, though internet is now working properly at the new house, at least. However,  I simply haven't had the time to do much other than cart stuff from one house to another (in fact, just carted all of my EXTRA gaming books from old house to new today. Haven't even grabbed the ones that I used most frequently yet (let alone shelves for them...).

My friends learned to hate the boxes that said RPG on them.    "Holy crap Tim, how many of these do you have, and why are they so heavy?!"

It's good enough to hear that you will consider it.
One step at a time, make your new home comfy first I just love the flavour of the tables of Harp martial law, I would love to see such thing in Novus. You've done so many possibilities for combat actions that the tables of damage seem obvious (to me). It also helps to add more Roleplay in combats as well, imo.

I have 4 boxes (3 of the boxes are 24" long, 18" tall and 18" high, the 4th is 18x18x18), and then I have 6 milk crates (see image below) full of my "most used/most referenced" game books (which I still need to cart over here), along with my desk and some bookshelves...

Well, today is the day that we try to move all of the big stuff (wife's cousin has a truck and trailer to help with this), and once that is done, then we can concentrate on the few remaining little items and on getting the old placed cleaned up before we turn the keys over to the landlord.
