Currently in my campaign, I have begun creation of a New School of Magic. (In our campaign, we call magic "spectrum.") We have come to refer to it as "Ancient Spectrum." I am looking for some ideas of new spells that fill in some gaps in the overall Novus list, and perhaps a few unique ones to throw into the mix. Currently, I'm looking at trying out:
1. Unweight, a spell that removes the effects of gravity on an object for a short amount time. Larger objects would need higher TN, perhaps as a casting option.
2. Construct, a spell to make a simple, solid inanimate object such as a door, or a gear for a mechanical device that is missing a part. The object will be obviously constructed of magical material and lasts a limited amount of time. Furthermore, it would be limited by the casters knowledge of craftsmanship, so he would not be able to make a key for a lock that he is unfamiliar with, for example.
3. Amplify Time, a spell to reverse or accelerate the effects of time on a non-sentient object. The idea is that this could be used to cause a deadbolt on a door to rust away, or cause a large tree root to shrink back to a smaller size, thus opening up a passage way. This one is the most theoretical, and I'm unsure if creating this would upset the balance of the magic system that is in place in Novus.
If you have any thoughts or alternate ideas, please share!
